About the job

We are seeking a part-time or full-time shift lead for a busy cafe on San Diego State University’s campus. We are able to offer flexible hours although weekend availability is a requirement. Our on-campus café has a full coffee and smoothie bar as well as a wide variety of food options. As shift lead, you will be responsible for directing the flow of work to ensure smooth operations.

Your Role

  • Maintain high standards of coffee and food practices for yourself and staff
  • Ensuring orders are made accurately and efficiently by all staff
  • Uphold all health and safety requirements
  • Assign break and lunch times
  • Assign work stations
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization
  • Log inventory on a daily / weekly basis
  • Train new staff on best practices

Who you are:

  • Previous experience in a cafe or with various types of food / coffee
  • Understand the fast pace environment of food service
  • Comfortable leading a team of 6 people at a time
  • Passionate about helping others

At BCB Cafe we pride ourselves on our excellent food and coffee services. We are a tight-knit group of customer-centric individuals who are looking for a new teammate to help our operations succeed. We have 7 locations on San Diego State University’s campus that will benefit from a part-time assistant manager who has strong experience in the coffee world. As assistant manager, you will drive value by maintaining high standards across all parts of the business. Hours are Mon-Fri 6:30 am -10:30 am or 6:30 am – 12:30 pm. 

Your Role

  • Daily oversight of all 7 on-campus locations
  • Jump on at any location as needed to help out or fill in
  • Maintain high standards of coffee practices for yourself and all staff
  • Enter inventory on daily / weekly basis
  • Uphold all health and safety requirements
  • Fix equipment or call for repairs

Who you are

  • Strong coffee experience, preferably with shift lead or manager roles
  • Comfortable with overseeing 80+ employees
  • A problem solver who enjoys encountering new challenges
  • An excellent communicator who can bring ideas to improve operations
